Why do I need it?
Nowadays the world is a far smaller place, and thanks to advancements in mobile technology, people can now find out about anything going on in the world they want, whenever they want and wherever they want.
News travels fast on the internet, so you need to workout which one suits your needs. Each social media platform has its own niche, Instagram for example is picture based, Facebook is family and friends based and twitter is more, live news based. You have others, Twitch is for gamers, discord is about real-time communication using texts, video and voice and split into public and private community servers. Snapchat is about exchanging videos and pictures that disappear after being viewed. There are many more, but those I think are the big ones.
My point is, you need social media to get by in business these days. You need to get your message out into the wider world fast, with updates that happen instantly. Create and nurture an audience interested in what you're selling. Think of the Social Media space as the biggest and brightest shopping mall imaginable, full of crowds of people having lots of fun while they throw their disposable income into the air and have it hoovered up by your rivals and Influences. Without social media in your marketing strategy you'll always be on the outside in the rain looking in. You need to get in on this, and once you're in, stay in. It's a fickle place and if you relax too long, you'll be back out in the cold. So stay hungry.
Is it hard to setup everything?
If you're like me, you've had Facebook profile in you life since, well... forever. Then it was Twitter next and finally Instagram. I've tried the others, but lost interest. So my main platforms now are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Until as recently as two weeks ago, I had been burning myself out with doing posts for each one and decided to change things. I wanted to connect it all and do just one post to cover every media platform I use in updates of my day to day life. Luckily for me, Facebook owns Instagram, so by going to my account in Instagram I can do it all. I just selected the Facebook page I wanted my posts to go to and filled in my username and password. Still using Instagram, I did the same for Twitter. The great thing now, is I post on Instagram and it goes instantly to Facebook and Twitter. Now I only have to concentrate on content. Which is all I've ever wanted to do.
Will I get more followers?
This is purely down to content. You need to get used to being out there. I wouldn't suggest going over the top. But mainly be consistent (that's something I'm still working on 😂).
The more posts you make and questions you ask in your posts, the more interest you'll get. It's just easier now because you've probably by now connected your 3 apps together; so you're technically able to do 1 post and share it 3 times instantly with less effort. With that three fold increase to your output you will inevitably have people begin to notice you. So yes, you will get more followers, but you'll only get out what you put in. So promise to do say, three posts a day. That's nine post across three platforms. That's three times more chance people will find you.
Is it easy to manage?
Now that I've set everything up it easy to manage. It took a couple of days to settle in. But I more motivated and cooking with gas now. I'm also far more relaxed about it all, because I don't have to switch to another platform and post the same thing and add keywords again.
So, I write my daily blog for my website and share that to Facebook. I do posts on Instagram and that goes to Instagram (of course), Twitter and Facebook the second I hit the share button. For the first time in a long time, I feel I can navigate the labyrinth of social media successfully.
Does it work?
I can say it does work. I have been at this for a while and I am really starting to feel that things are changing. Rather than flinging out the occasional posts and hoping someone will notice, I'm throwing out fistfuls of them and I'm not even tired of doing it. People are engaging with me more and I think they can also see the enthusiasm in my posts too. It does work, but it does take a bit of effort to get your head in gear. I have been fully on this for nearly two weeks, making a website, setting up new profiles, starting blogs etc, and the difference in my content is huge! This won't be my last post on the subject, as the more I study things, the more I learn. So in the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back!"
